On Saturday, December 23, 2017, Hilda Rokohl Hassmann Bohne passed away peacefully at the age of 104 in San Antonio, Texas.

A native Texan, Hilda entered the world on May 10, 1913, as one of seven children born to Gustav and Mary (Pinn) Rokohl, in Gonzales, Texas. On November 25, 1936, Hilda married Melvin Henry Hassmann, and they raised three daughters together on the family farm in the Texas Hill Country town of Denhawken. Hilda worked as a beautician and provided child care for several families while developing the "green thumb" for which she would always be known. When their youngest daughter was 9 years old, Hilda and Melvin moved their family to Nixon, Texas. In 1967, a move to New Braunfels prompted the couple to build a home on Rivercrest Drive, where they lived until Melvin passed away in 1984. Hilda was a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she later married Fritz Bohne, a long-time family friend, and extended their family with his son, Fritz Bohne, Jr., daughter, Marie Schaper, and their children and grandchildren. Hilda and Fritz enjoyed many family gatherings at their home in Schertz, Texas, and later, on Camellia Lane in New Braunfels, Texas. After Fritz's passing, Hilda moved to Kingwood, Texas, where two of her daughters, granddaughters, and several great-grandchildren reside.

Hilda is survived by her daughters; Shirley (Wayne) Broadway, Jeanette Royall, Loretta (Andrew) Lemoine, grandchildren; Douglas (Christie) Broadway, Tracey (Robert) Young, Jana Rethaber Bell, Jill (Tim) Burrowes, Larisa (David) Verret, Drew Lemoine, and great-grandchildren; Blake Young, Brooke Young, Brittany Kahl, Dalton Broadway, Jacob Burrowes, Jackson Burrowes, Justin Burrowes, Hartley Burrowes, Lawson Bell, Hannah Verret, Kaylee Verret, and Braden Verret.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home (22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339). Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2nd at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park (2951 S. Highway 46, New Braunfels, TX 78130).
